1 Comet's story
~~COMET is a big boy. He is a lot of dog. He weighs 80 pounds and stands several feet tall at your side. Many of you can probably pet him without even leaning over!  He's young and strong, pure black with a touch of white on his chest and ever so slight touches of white at the tips of his paws.....and Comet is looking for a new home. He is 1-3 years old and full of energy!  House trained and good with other dogs and kids, we still suggest you bring your dog(s) and kid(s) in to meet him as I've mentioned before, he's a big boy and with all that energy, he's bound to run, jump, and leap on your and yours.  Comet needs a new owner willing to give him daily exercise and playtime.  He loves to run free so a big fenced in yard would be great!  I imagine this boy would be good in a swimming pool or lake and talk about expending energy!  Swimming would be great for him! Daily runs, walks and activity should be on the agenda in the home.  We're told Comet is great with children but supervision when entering a new home as he gets settled in is always strongly encouraged as some behaviors have come up within the last few weeks which oversight and direction would be called for.  Comet can get a bit too excited and with this excitement comes jumping and seemingly a loss of control on his part but an experienced big dog owner will be able to manage him and guide him through to better reactions.  Comet is said to be much better walking with a harness and collar and he is said to be a well trained boy who loves treats and positive reinforcement. He has shown he does listen well when prompted so if you are willing to walk and/or run this big boy daily, provide daily mental stimulation in the form of training, enrichment or all of the above, get down to the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center, 341 S Birdneck Rd in Virginia Beach and meet him!  Comet is currently in our large dog adoption kennel and his id number is 1.  All you have to do is ask to meet him and you better be on your toes!  Comet does not like cats.  Thank you for considering adoption!
